Section 4 - Attractions I Visited
1 Watch the introduction video for this section.
2 Decide which methods of transportation you are going to use to travel from city to city. You can't travel between all cities using all methods of transportation. For example, there may be no train between two cities, or to drive would take too long. Remember that you have to include a boat in your travels – there are limited locations that use a ferry -- you have to visit St. John's, Charlottetown, or Victoria on your travels.
3 Download the Travel Times worksheet, and open it in Word Perfect. You can print off a copy to fill in by hand, but remember that you need to key in the information to hand in. Remember to save your changes.
4 Using the links on the Canada map, access the travel schedules between cities, ie: train schedules, ferry schedules, and airplane schedules. If you are taking a plane, you need to access the Time Zones maps to help you calculate your travelling time. Remember to chose the correct map for the season!
5 Plan your trip based on the following information:
  • If you are driving, you can drive a maximum of 640 km per day. That is an average of 80 km per hour for a maximum of eight (8) hours.
  • If you are driving more than 640 km per day, you have to add another day of travel time. You don't have to know where you stay, just that you "spent the night en route" (see the example on the Transportation Schedule form.
  • You must add two hours to your air travel time – one hour before the flight to check in, and one hour after the flight lands.
