The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is a system that describes and classifies all occupations in Canada using four-digit codes called National Occupation Codes (NOCs). This system and the codes are the authoritative source for occupational information in Canada. Entering one of these four-digit codes in the “Quick Search” box on the NOC website provides occupational information related to that career.
For more information on occupations:
- go to the Ontario Skills Passport website
- click on “Occupations and Tasks” in the navigation bar
- select “Sorted by NOC”, and
- click on the “Sample Workplace Tasks” checkmark for one of the occupations to view a description of the occupation, an overview of the Essential Skills required in the occupation, a list of sample tasks for the occupation, and assessment tools and other career and employment information related to the occupation.
The following are examples of occupations in the agriculture sector, with corresponding NOC codes, sorted according to the type of postsecondary education or training the occupations would normally require.
Note: Some of the names of occupations given below may differ slightly from the names in the NOC. The names listed here reflect common usage by institutions and organizations in this sector in Ontario.
